Understanding the Causes of teenage pregnancy

Teen Pregnancy
The reason the basis for any pregnancy is obviously sexual relations. Many researchers would like to know why it is so widespread the phenomenon of teenage pregnancy. The simple answer is that teens want to become pregnant; While this does not conform to the truth in all cases, at least 80% of teen pregnancies are unintended.

Research has shown that some of the causes of teenage pregnancy are the lack of a sense of personal responsibility for their actions, immature and especially a lack of knowledge about contraception and sexual relations. Related to this, the teen pregnancy is often closely associated with poverty, limited education and employment opportunities.

Only 53% of teens admit no sex understanding or birth control, and it is a reflection of a more fundamental cause of pregnancy in adolescents, ignorance. Indeed, adolescents in America, in particular girls, are bombarded with conflicting messages about sex. Sex is considered as immediate gratification without consequences, but prepare for sex makes a promiscuous girl. Sex is seen everywhere in television and film, but equal treatment for birth control methods is completely absent. Discussions on sexual behaviour are very rare.

If a female teenager low expectations for his future or lack of control over his life, it is more likely to become pregnant. In General, depression is one of the causes of teenage pregnancy, leading the girls to engage in risky sexual activities. The abuse of alcohol or drugs also leads to bad choices about sex and contraception, found often during pregnancy.

Grew up in a family without an adequate amount of love or a father figure can also be one of the causes of teenage pregnancy; a teenage girl will fall to the attentions of an older man in the hope of receiving affection. Most of the girls are under pressure from their boyfriends having sex because they believe that this will make their small friends like more.

The researchers studied European pregnancy rates and saw that the great difference (10 times between the United States and Holland, for example) in pregnancy rates between the United States and most European cities lies in the fact that European countries had better sex education, contraceptive services, acceptance of sexuality among teenagers and the low child poverty.

Surveys of adolescents were conducted to try to understand how they perceive the causes of teenage pregnancy. In a 1996 study, 76% of girls and 58% of boys reported that adolescents had sexual relations because their desired boyfriend. One in three young men aged 15-17 has admitted having had sexual intercourse because under pressure to do so by his friends. In a 1997 study, 70% of the girls said that it is embarrassing for them to purchase birth control or request information from a physician.

The exact relationship between factors associated with adolescent pregnancy and teenage pregnancy is unclear at this time. What the majority of researchers agree, however, is that teenagers need to be more educated on the actual consequences of sex and contraception methods.
